Start of car movement (Honda CR-V 2)

Before starting the engine

Sit correctly in the driver's seat. Position your right foot so that you have firm control over the gas and brake pedals.

Starting the engine

1. Make sure the parking brake is applied.

2. Make sure the selector lever is in the "P" position.

The engine can also be started from the "N" position, but for safety reasons, do this from the "P" position.

3. Press the brake pedal with your right foot and start the engine.

Warning: When the immobilizer indicator is flashing, it is impossible to start the engine.

Start of movement

1. Press the brake pedal with your right foot and move the automatic transmission selector lever to position "D", or if you want to move backwards, to position "R".

Warning! Do not shift the automatic transmission selector lever with the accelerator pedal depressed. This may cause the vehicle to move abruptly and create an emergency situation.

2. Make sure that the position of the automatic transmission selector lever is correctly displayed on the instrument panel.

3. Release the parking brake.

4. Make sure that the brake system indicator light goes out.

5. Slowly release the brake pedal and smoothly press the gas pedal.

Warning!

• If you shift the automatic transmission selector lever to any position other than P or N, the vehicle may start moving even if the accelerator pedal is not pressed.
• Immediately after starting, the engine speed is high, so press the brake pedal harder.

If after pressing the brake pedal the automatic transmission selector lever does not move from position P to another position:

1. Using a screwdriver with the end wrapped in a rag, remove the shift lock release hole cover.





2. Insert the key into the hole and, pressing it, move the automatic transmission selector lever to the desired position.

Starting off on a steep climb

1. Determine the position of the automatic transmission selector lever using the indicator.

2. With the parking brake applied, slowly release the brake pedal.

3. Slowly press the gas pedal and make sure that the car is ready to move.

4. Release the parking brake and start driving.

Movement

While driving, do not switch the selector lever to the "N" position, as this will completely eliminate the engine braking effect, which may lead to unforeseen consequences.

Normal movement

Models 2001-2004

The movement is performed after setting the selector lever to position "D".

The car's movement is accelerated and decelerated only by the gas and brake pedals. By pressing the gas pedal, the gears are automatically shifted (from 1st to 4th) in accordance with the speed of movement.

Models since 2005

The movement is performed after setting the selector lever to position "D".

The car's movement is accelerated and decelerated only by the gas and brake pedals. By pressing the gas pedal, the gears are automatically shifted (from 1st to 5th) in accordance with the speed of movement.

Sharp acceleration

While driving, press the gas pedal sharply all the way down. This will cause the transmission to shift to a lower gear and the car will accelerate sharply (kick-down mode).

Movement on the rise

Models 2001-2004

Depending on the steepness of the climb, select the selector lever position: "D" (overdrive off) or "2". The engine speed will change slightly, which will avoid jerks when changing gears.

2005 models

Depending on the steepness of the climb, select the selector lever position: "D" (mode "D3" is engaged) or "2". The engine speed will change slightly, which will avoid jerks when changing gears.

Movement on the descent

Models 2001-2004

When the selector lever is in the "D" position, the engine braking effect is weak, so it is necessary to engage an upshift or move the selector lever to the "2" position. If strong engine braking is required, move the selector lever to the "1" position.

2005 models

When the selector lever is in the "D" position, the engine braking effect is weak, so it is necessary to engage the "D3" mode, or if strong engine braking is required, move the selector lever to the "2" or "1" position.

Stopping the car

1. With the selector lever in position "D", press the brake pedal firmly. If necessary, apply the parking brake.

Note!

• Do not attempt to stop on an incline by simultaneously pressing the accelerator and brake pedals in positions other than "N" or "P". This may cause overheating and damage to the transmission.
• If you are stopping your vehicle on an incline, apply the parking brake securely.
• When the air conditioner is turned on, the engine's traction force increases, so in this case, press the brake pedal harder when stopping.

2. If the stop is long, move the selector lever to the "N" position.

Attention

• If the selector lever is in any position other than "P" or "N", the vehicle may move suddenly.
• Sometimes the vehicle may suddenly move off with a cold engine when the selector lever is in the "N" position.

Car parking

1. Stop the vehicle completely.



2. While keeping the brake pedal depressed, apply the parking brake.

3. Move the selector lever to position "P".

4. Turn off the engine.

Warning!

• When leaving the vehicle, be sure to place the selector lever in position "P" or "N" and turn off the engine. If you do not turn off the engine and leave the selector lever in a different position, the car may suddenly start moving. If you press the gas pedal by mistake, the car will move abruptly, which can create an emergency situation.
• Do not switch the selector lever to the "P" position until the vehicle has come to a complete stop, otherwise the gearbox may be damaged.
• If the car starts moving suddenly, press the brake pedal hard.

Reverse

When reversing, the driver's body turns, which makes it possible to operate the pedals incorrectly. Position yourself so that you have good control of the brake pedal.
