A - oil receiver,
B - oil pump.
2. Use a reamer to remove carbon deposits from the top of each cylinder.
3. Loosen the main bearing cap bolts in several passes in the sequence shown in the illustration. To avoid damage, loosen the bolts no more than ⅓ of a turn at a time until they are loose.
4. Remove the main bearing cap bridge.
5. Remove the main bearing caps. Arrange the caps in the order in which they correspond to the cylinders.
6. Remove the crankshaft from the cylinder block. Be careful not to damage the journals.
7. Remove the upper bearing shells from the connecting rod and place them next to the corresponding caps.
8. Using a wooden hammer handle, press the pistons out of the cylinder block.
9. Mark the cylinder number on each connecting rod and piston to facilitate subsequent assembly.
Note: The number on the connecting rod does not indicate its location in the cylinder block, but its size.
