2. Measure the connecting rod end play by inserting a feeler gauge between the connecting rod and the crankshaft.
- Nominal clearance - 0.15 - 0.30 mm
- Maximum clearance - 0.40 mm
If the end play is greater than maximum, install a new connecting rod and recheck the end play. If the clearance still exceeds the maximum, replace the crankshaft.
3. Install the dial indicator on the end of the crankshaft. Determine the crankshaft end play by moving it back and forth with a screwdriver.
- Rated axial clearance - 0.10 - 0.35 mm
- Maximum axial clearance - 0.45 mm
If the clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the thrust half rings, if this does not help, replace the crankshaft.
