Note: This procedure requires a special tool: an oil filter wrench (07HAA-PJ70100).
1. Remove the lower engine cover.
2. Remove the old oil filter using an oil filter wrench.
3. Check the filter to make sure the rubber seal is not stuck to the surface of the oil filter seat on the engine.
4. Check the thread A and rubber sealing ring B of the new filter. Clean the seat on the oil pan and apply a thin film of new oil to the rubber sealing ring of the filter. Use only oil filters with a built-in oil bypass system.
5. Screw in the oil filter by hand.
6. After the rubber sealing ring is seated, tighten the oil filter clockwise with an oil filter wrench.
Tighten 3/4 turn clockwise.
Tightening torque: 12 Nm.
7. If there are 4 marking marks (numbers 1 through 4 or
by ) are applied to the outer surface of the filter, use the following procedure to tighten the filter.
Tighten the filter by hand until its rubber sealing ring is lightly pressed against the surface of the cylinder oil pan and note which number mark is at the bottom.
Tighten the filter by turning it clockwise 3 notches relative to the one you marked. For example, if the mark is at the bottom when the rubber seal is seated
, tighten the filter until the mark is at the bottom.
The number or marking visible at the bottom when the rubber sealing ring is seated. After installing the oil filter, fill the engine with engine oil to the required level, run the engine for more than 3 minutes, then check for oil leaks.
9. Install the lower engine cover.
