2. Connect the following equipment: ammeter, 0-400 A, voltmeter 0-20 V (with a measurement accuracy of at least 0.1 V).
Start the engine. Keep the crankshaft speed at 3,000 rpm without load (the gearshift lever is in neutral position) until the radiator fan is turned on and let it idle.
4. Raise and maintain the crankshaft speed at 2000 rpm.
5. Turn on the headlights (high beam) and measure the voltage at the generator terminal. Is the voltage in the range of 13.9 to 15.1 V?
- YES - proceed to step 6.
- NO - Replace the generator or repair the generator.
6. Check the current value at 13.5V.
Note: Adjust the voltage value when the air conditioner fan, rear window defogger, brake lights, etc. are on.
Is the current 60A or higher?
- YES - The charging system is OK. Proceed to Troubleshooting the Generator Control Circuit.
- NO - replace or repair the generator.
