
2. Install the piston and connecting rod so that the marks are located as shown in the figure.

3. Heat the piston to 70° and install the piston pin.
4. Install the second retaining ring and rotate the retaining rings so that the gaps in the locks are directed towards the bottom of the piston.
5. Check the fit of the piston-piston pin joint. If the connecting rod does not drop under its own weight, replace the piston, connecting rod and/or piston pin.

Replace the entire assembly if necessary.
6. Install the piston rings.
a) Install the expander and two oil scraper ring scrapers.
b) (Models with VTEC rocker arm block types 1 and 2) Install compression ring No.1 (A) and compression ring No.2 (B). The mark (C) on compression ring No.2 should be facing upward.

- A - 2.5 mm
- B - 1, 2 mm
compression ring #2:
- A - 2.8 mm
- B - 1.2 mm
v) (Models with VTEC type 3 rocker arm block) Install compression ring No.1 (A) and compression ring No.2 (B) with the mark (C) on compression ring No.2 facing upward.

compression ring #1:
- A - 3.1 mm
- B - 1.2 mm
compression ring #2:
- A - 3.4 mm
- B - 1.2 mm
d) Install the piston rings in the grooves so that their locks are located as shown in the figure.
Note: Do not place the ring locks opposite the "A" locations indicated in the figure (along the axis of the piston pin and perpendicular to the axis of the piston pin).
