2. Remove both retaining rings.
3. Heat the piston-connecting rod assembly to a temperature of about 70° and remove the piston pin.

1. Apply a coat of engine oil to the retaining ring (A) and rotate it in the groove so that the gap in the ring end aligns with the groove (B) in the piston.
