Cylinder head component arrangement

  • To avoid thermal deformation, remove the cylinder head on a cold engine (below 38°C).
  • Be careful not to damage the contact surface of the block and cylinder head gasket.
  • Before removing the cylinder head, check the condition of the timing belt (see above).
  • Before removing the cylinder head, set the piston of cylinder No.1 to the TDC position of the compression stroke (see above).
  • Use genuine Honda sealant 1216, 5699, 1216E and 5999.
  • Label all hoses to avoid confusion during assembly.
  • During installation, replace all O-rings, seals and gaskets with new ones.
