All information about manual gearboxes (RKPP) presented in this Part of the Chapter. 4-speed AT and CVT dedicated 4-speed and continuously variable automatic transmissions (at and cvt). General procedures such as replacing oil seals are also described in Part 5-Speed Manual Transmission.
Due to the complexity of the design of the manual transmission, the lack of free sale of the necessary interchangeable internal components and the need to use special equipment, the compilers of this manual do not recommend car owners to independently overhaul the gearbox. Repairing a box in a car service workshop is a rather expensive operation, and therefore, alternative options for replacing a failed unit with a new or refurbished one should be considered. Any useful information on repairing and replacing the transmission can be obtained from a Honda service center. Regardless of the choice of troubleshooting method (repair or replacement), independent dismantling of the box from the car will significantly reduce material costs.
The placement of the manual transmission and its related components in the engine compartment of the car is shown in the accompanying illustration below.
