General information
Real Chapter Gear box dedicated to 4-speed and continuously variable automatic transmissions (AT and CVT). On Civic models, 4-speed ATs of three types are used: A4RA, B4RQ and A4RA, as well as continuously variable CVTs of the M4VA type. Integra models are equipped with 4-speed AT types MP7A, S4XA and SP7A. Information on manual gearboxes (RKPP) given in 5-speed manual gearbox.
Placement of AT/CVT and related components in the engine compartment of the car is shown in the accompanying illustration below.
Due to the complexity of the AT and CVT designs, the lack of commercially available interchangeable internal components, and the need to use special equipment, the compilers of this manual do not recommend car owners to overhaul the transmission on their own.
Sometimes, in the event of a serious breakdown, it turns out to be more reasonable to replace the transmission than to spend time and money on repairing the failed one. Regardless of the chosen method of bringing the failed transmission into operation, doing the removal and installation yourself will help to reduce costs to a large extent.
In view of the foregoing, this Part only deals with the removal and installation of AT / CVT.
