1. Remove the driveshaft (see Section 4).
2. Remove the bolts securing the CV joint to the flange.
3. Mark the relative positions of the shaft elements, pull the joint body out of the tube (see the illustrations relating to pin-type joints given in chapter 8A). Do not lose the bearing rollers.
Repair
4. See similar Section Chapter 8A.
Installation
5. Place the boot guard, clamp, retaining ring and boot on the front pipe.
6. Place the boot so that its protruding part fits into the groove of the front pipe.
7. Install the retaining ring.
8. Install the CV joint onto the splined end of the front pipe.
9. Install the retaining ring onto the splined end.
10. Lubricate the rollers of the joint bearings. Fill the dust boot with grease and assemble the joint.
11. Tighten the bolts securing the boot flange to the joint housing.
12. Tighten the boot clamp.
13. Assemble the propeller shaft and install it in place (see Section 4).
