1. Symptoms of airbag system malfunctions can be difficult to recognize. Always check the fault codes before disconnecting the battery.
2. Do not work on the airbag system earlier than 180 seconds after setting the ignition switch to the "LOCK" position and disconnecting the negative cable from the battery.
3. Remember that turning off the ignition and disconnecting the negative battery terminal does not clear the SRS fault codes.
4. Do not expose the steering wheel pad to impacts or strong magnetic fields;
5. Do not expose the steering wheel pad to heat or flame.
6. Even after a minor collision in which the airbag did not deploy, always check the pad surface and the condition of the sensors. If dents, cracks, deformations, etc. are found, replace the airbag assembly.
7. Never install SRS system components from another vehicle, use only new components for the same model.
8. If the vehicle repair involves strong impacts, block the sensor first.
9. Never disassemble any SRS system components.
10. To test the security system, use a tester with an input current of no more than 10 mA.
11. There are information labels on the housings of the SRS system components. Follow the instructions on them.
12. After completing the repair work, re-diagnose the system.
13. When disposing of a vehicle or steering wheel, always deflate the airbag.
14. The outer surface of the airbag unit becomes hot when deployed. Wait until the unit cools down to normal temperature. Do not use water for cooling!
