The motor wiring includes short pieces of calibrated wire that act as fuses. Identification of wires - fuses is carried out by their color (see chapter 12). The frequency of maintenance of the elements of the charging system (belt, battery) given in Chapter 1.
When the ignition system is turned on, signal lamps on the dashboard light up, which go out after the engine starts. If the charging indicator signal does not go out after the start, this indicates a malfunction in the system (see Section 16). On some models, a voltmeter is installed: if it shows abnormally high or low voltage, check the charging system.
Be careful when working on vehicle electrical equipment. Remember the basic rules:
- A) when connecting the wires between the generator and the battery, observe the polarity;
- b) when carrying out welding work on a car, disconnect the wires of the generator and battery;
- V) never start the engine with the battery charger connected;
- G) when charging the battery, remove both wires belonging to the car;
- d) be careful when working on a rotating motor;
- e) cover the generator with a plastic bag when washing the engine with steam.
