The starting system consists of a battery, starter motor, starter relay and wires. The starter relay is attached directly to the starter. The starter is mounted at the bottom of the engine near the flywheel housing. When the ignition key is turned to position "start", the starter relay is switched on via the control unit. The relay then connects the starter contact to the battery. The starter starts turning the crankshaft.
On some models, the starter can only be engaged when the clutch pedal is depressed (manual transmission) and always turns on only when the shift lever is in position "R" or "N" (automatic transmission).
Observe the following when working with the trigger system:
- A) do not operate the starter for more than 15 seconds. After that, a break of about two minutes should be taken. 8 Otherwise, the starter winding will burn out.
- b) malfunctions of the 8 starter can cause a fire.
- V) always disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal when working on electrical wiring.
