2. Remove the distributor cap and rotor (see Chapter 1).
3. Using non-magnetic feeler gauges, check that the air gap between the stator and the magnetic resistance is equal for all protrusions (see fig. 11.3a and 11.3b).

- a) If your machine is equipped with a HITACHI distributor and the gaps are not equal, loosen the screws and move the stator to equalize the gaps. Tighten the screws and check the gaps again.
- b) If your car is equipped with a TOYO DENSO distributor and the gaps are not equal, check for damage to the stator and magnetic resistance. Damaged parts require replacement.
