Note. After completing this procedure, you must reset the engine control module (ECM), otherwise the ECM will continue to stop the injectors. Zero the ECM Using the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS).
1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature (cooling fan should turn on).
2. Turn the ignition key to position «OFF».
3. Connect the HDS diagnostic system to the data connector (DLC)
4. Switch on the ignition by turning the key to position «ON» (II).
5. Verify that the HDS is communicating with the vehicle and the ECM. If not, troubleshoot the DLC circuit.
6. Select functions «PGM-FI, INSPECTION», then «ALL INJECTORS OFF» in the HDS diagnostic system.
7. Remove the four ignition coils.
8. Remove four spark plugs.
9. Connect a pressure gauge to the spark plug hole.
10. Fully open the throttle, crank the engine with the starter and measure the compression.
Compression pressure: above 880 kPa.
11. Measure the compression in the remaining cylinders.
Maximum dispersion: no more than 200 kPa.
12. If the compression value is outside the range specified in the specifications, check the following items, and then repeat the compression measurement.
- Broken or worn valves and seats.
- Cylinder head gasket failure.
- Broken or worn piston rings.
- Damaged or worn piston or cylinder bore.
13. Select «Zeroing data («Reset») ECM computer» to stop the execution of the function «ALL INJECTORS OFF» (All injectors are disabled) in the HDS diagnostic system.
