Park the car and apply the parking brake. Pull the remote hood release handle, which is located on the left under the dashboard. This will raise the front edge of the hood slightly.
Standing in front of the car, slide your fingers under the front edge of the hood. Feel for the hood release handle, which is located in the center, above the "H" emblem.
Press the handle up to release the latch and release the hood. Raise the hood.
If the hood latch is difficult to open, or if the hood can be opened without pressing the latch handle, the latch mechanism must be cleaned and lubricated.
Take hold of the support strut handle. Release the strut from the holder and insert its end into the socket located on the inner surface of the hood. Note that the strut may become very hot as a result of engine operation.
