Removal (D15B, D17A)
1. Drain the engine oil.
2. Remove the timing belt.
3. Remove the oil pan.
4. Remove the oil receiver.
5. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the oil pump assembly.

Removal (K20A, models without balance shaft block)
1. Remove the oil pan.
2. Remove the oil pump drive chain tensioner.

3. Remove the oil pump.

Removal (K20A, models with balance shaft block)
1. Set the piston of cylinder No.1 to the TDC position.
2. Remove the oil pan.
3. Remove the oil pump drive chain tensioner by unscrewing the mounting bolts.

4. Secure the right balance shaft by inserting the special tool rod into the balance shaft hole through the hole in the balance shaft block.

5. Loosen the crankshaft drive sprocket mounting bolt.
6. Remove the driven sprocket (A) of the oil pump, then remove the oil pump (B) assembled with the balance mechanism by unscrewing the mounting bolts.

7. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the oil pump.

Disassembly and assembly
1. Remove the parts in the order they are numbered in the figure "Disassembling and assembling the oil pump".
2. Installation of parts during assembly is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Examination
1. Using a feeler gauge, measure the radial clearance between the lugs of the driving and driven rotors.
Nominal clearance:
- K20A — 0.02 -0.15 mm
- except K20A - 0.06-0.18 mm
Maximum gap - 0.20 mm

2. Using a feeler gauge, measure the radial clearance between the driven rotor and the pump casing.
Nominal clearance:
- K20A - 0.15-0.21 mm
- except K20A - 0.10 - 0.18 mm
Maximum clearance:
- K20A - 0.23 mm
- except K20A - 0.20 mm

3. Using a precision ruler and feeler gauge, measure the end clearance between the rotors and the surface of the oil pump housing.
Nominal clearance - 0.03 - 0.07 mm
Maximum gap - 0.12 mm

If any of the gaps are greater than the maximum value, replace the rotor. If necessary, replace the pump housing.
Installation (D15B, D17A)
1. Clean the contact surfaces of the oil pump.
2. Install the oil pump (A).
a) Apply a bead of sealant to the oil pump mating surface and around the bolt holes.
Note: The parts must be installed within the time specified in the sealant application instructions. Otherwise, the sealant must be removed and reapplied.
b) Apply a coat of grease to the lip of the front crankshaft oil seal and a coat of engine oil to the O-ring (B) and install them.
c) Install the guides (C), then install the oil pump.
d) Remove excess grease and engine oil from the crankshaft and balance shafts.
d) Install the oil receiver (D) with a new gasket (E).

3. Install the oil pan.
4. Install the timing belt.
Installation (K20A, models with balance shaft block)
1. Install the oil pump onto the balance mechanism, tightening the mounting bolts.
Tightening torque - 12 Nm
2. Check that the piston of cylinder No.1 is in the TDC position.
3. Align the mark on the guide (A) on the right balance shaft with the mark (B) on the oil pump.

4. Secure the right balance shaft by inserting the special tool rod into the balance shaft hole through the hole in the balance shaft block.

5. Apply a coat of engine oil to the threads of the crankshaft drive sprocket mounting bolt (A). Install the oil pump (B), then install the driven sprocket (C) of the oil pump and tighten the mounting bolts. Remove the special tool (D).

6. Compress the tensioner rod (A) of the oil pump drive chain, then install the retainer (B) as shown in the figure.
Note: The retainer is supplied with the tensioner.

7. Install the chain tensioner by tightening the mounting bolts.
Tightening torque - 12 Nm
8. Remove the retainer from the oil pump drive chain tensioner.

9. Install the oil pan.
Installation (K20A, models without balance shaft block)
1. Install the oil pump.

2. Compress the new oil pump drive chain tensioner (A) bar and install the retainer (B) as shown in the figure.

3. Install the oil pump drive chain tensioner and tighten the mounting bolts.
Tightening torque - 12 Nm
4. Remove the retainer from the oil pump drive chain tensioner.
5. Install the oil pan.
