Removal
1. Remove the engine from the engine compartment.
2. Loosen the bolts and nuts securing the oil pan.
3. Remove the oil pan.
Insert a screwdriver or other tool between the oil pan and the cylinder block and remove it by cutting the sealant as shown in the figure.

Installation (K20A)
1. Clean the contact surfaces of the oil pan.
2. Apply a 4mm thick layer of sealant to the contact surface of the oil pan as shown in the figure.
Note: The parts must be installed within the time specified in the sealant application instructions. Otherwise, the sealant must be removed and reapplied.
Models with type 3 rocker arm block.
Models with 1 and 2 types of rocker blocks.
3. Install the oil pan.
4. Tighten the oil pan mounting bolts in 2 - 3 passes in the sequence shown in the figure. On the last pass, tighten the bolts to a torque of 12 N·m.
Models with 1 and 2 types of rocker blocks.
Models with type 3 rocker arm block.
Installation (D15B, D17A)
Aluminum oil pan:
- 1. Clean the contact surfaces of the oil pan.
- 2. Apply a 4mm thick layer of sealant to the contact surface of the oil pan as shown in the figure.
Note: The parts must be installed within the time specified in the sealant application instructions. Otherwise, the sealant must be removed and reapplied.

- 3. Install the oil pan.
- 4. Tighten the oil pan mounting bolts in 2 - 3 passes in the sequence shown in the figure. On the last pass, tighten the bolts to a torque of 12 N·m.

Steel oil pan:
- 1. Clean the contact surfaces of the oil pan, oil pump and rear oil seal retainer.
- 2. Apply a layer of sealant to the contact surfaces of the oil pump and rear oil seal holder as shown in the figure.
Note: The parts must be installed within the time specified in the sealant application instructions. Otherwise, the sealant must be removed and reapplied.

- 3. Apply a layer of sealant to the contact surface of the oil pan gasket as shown in the figure, and install the oil pan.
Note: The parts must be installed within the time specified in the sealant application instructions. Otherwise, the sealant must be removed and reapplied.

- 4. Tighten the oil pan mounting bolts and nuts by hand 6 turns in the sequence shown in the figure below.
- 5. Tighten the oil pan mounting bolts and nuts clockwise in 3 passes, in the sequence shown in the figure. On the last pass, tighten the bolts to a torque of 12 N·m.
