Checking the switch (with SRS)
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable, then disconnect the positive cable and wait at least three minutes.
2. Disconnect the connector (s) driver airbags (and passenger).
3. Remove the lower dashboard cover.
4. Disconnect the coil auxiliary wiring connector from the main wiring.
5. Check continuity between contacts No. 2 of the coil auxiliary wiring and the housing while the horn button is pressed.
- If there is continuity, the horn switch is OK.
- If there is no conductivity, go to step 6.
6. Remove the driver's airbag assembly, then disconnect the horn connector from the steering wheel.
7. Check the continuity between pin No. 2 of the coil auxiliary wiring connector and the positive contacts of the horn.
- If there is no continuity, replace the cable reel.
- If continuity is present, repair or replace the horn switch.
8. If all tests are positive, install the driver airbag assembly and connect the coil auxiliary wiring connector,
9. Connect the connector (s) driver airbags (and front passenger seat) and install the access panel on the steering wheel,
10. Connect the positive battery cable, then the negative cable.
11. After installing the airbag assembly, make sure the system is operating correctly:
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II), the SRS indicator lamp on the instrument panel should light up for approximately 6 seconds and then go off.
- Make sure both horn buttons work.
Checking the switch (without SRS)
1. Remove the steering wheel, then turn it over.
2. Check the conductivity between the hub core and the contact ring, in accordance with the table.
- If there is continuity, check the combination switch.
Checking the sound signal
1. Remove the front bumper.
2. Disconnect the contact from the horn.
3. Remove the beep.
4. Test the horn by connecting battery power to one terminal and grounding the other. The signal must sound.
