The engines described in this manual are equipped with carburetors and fuel injection systems. All engines manufactured in 1984 are equipped with three-barrel carburetors. Since 1984, fuel injection systems have been installed on some models (only to order). Injection systems, depending on the year of manufacture and engine size, used multi-point or two-point injection. The multi-point injection system implies a pulsed supply of fuel to the intake port of each cylinder and is controlled by an electronic control module (EMU). The EMU calculates the fuel delivery and its sequence depending on the signals from the sensors. The two-point injection system uses two injectors mounted on the throttle body. The injectors supply fuel to the intake manifold.
On carburetor engines, a booster pump with a mechanical drive is installed. In 1985-1987, fuel-injected models used electric boost pumps mounted near the fuel tank at the left rear wheel. Since 1989, electric pumps have been placed in the fuel tank.
The exhaust system consists of a front pipe, a catalytic converter, an exhaust pipe and a muffler. Information about the neutralizer is placed in Chapter 6.
