Installing the oil pan (Honda Civic 8)

1. Remove any remaining old liquid gasket from the mating surfaces of the oil pump, bolts and their holes.

2. Clean and dry the mating surfaces of the oil pan.

3. Apply a uniform layer of liquid sealant, P/N 08C70-K0234M or 08C70-K0334M, to the surface of the oil pan that meets the engine block.

Note: If 5 minutes or more have passed since applying liquid sealant, do not install components. Instead, remove the old layer of liquid sealant and apply a new layer.


4. Install the oil pan.

5. Tighten the bolts in two or three stages. In the final stage, tighten all the bolts sequentially to 12 N·m. Remove excess liquid sealant from each side of the crankshaft pulley and flywheel.

Note: Wait 30 minutes before adding oil to the engine.


Do not run the engine for at least 3 hours after installing the oil pan.

6. Install the gearbox mounting bolts.

7. Install the air conditioner compressor bracket.

8. Install the dipstick tube A with a new sealing ring B.

10. Install the engine oil pressure gauge.

11. Tighten the two bolts A holding the wiring harness retainer.

12. Connect the oil level sensor connector B, then install the oil level sensor housing C.

13. Install the lower reaction rod bracket A.

14. Install bracket reinforcement B, then tighten the mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown below.

15. If the engine is still not removed from the vehicle, follow these steps:.

16. Loosen bolt A securing the upper reaction rod.

17. Install the lower reaction rod, then tighten the new lower reaction rod mounting bolts in the numerical sequence shown.

18. Tighten the upper reaction rod mounting bolt.

19. Connect the intercooler inlet system A to the turbocharger pressure hose B, then install the intercooler inlet system clamp C.

20. Lightly tighten the intercooler intake system…

Align mark E on the intercooler inlet pipe and mark F on the turbocharger pressure hose, and move the turbocharger pressure hose onto the intercooler inlet pipe until the end of the hose contacts bulge G.

21. Tighten the intercooler inlet system mounting bolts and secure the turbocharger pressure hose with clamp H, then install the intercooler inlet hose I and secure the hose with clamp J.

22. Install the lower engine cover.

23. Install the air conditioning compressor.

24. Install the generator.

25. Install the drive belt.

26. Fill the engine with engine oil.
