Note: The Idle Mode Diagnostic procedure must be performed to enter the engine idle characteristics into the ECM memory.

Perform the idle computer diagnostic procedure…

Perform the idle computer diagnostic procedure whenever you perform the following actions:
  • replace ECM;
  • reset the ECM;
  • update your ECM software;
  • replace or clean the throttle body.

Note: The HDS DTC Clear procedure does not require the Idle Speed Control Computer programming procedure to be performed first.

Procedure

1. Make sure all electrical equipment (air conditioning, audio system, lighting fixtures, etc.) off.

2. Reset the ECM using the HDS.

3. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" (II) position and wait 2 seconds.

4. Start the engine. Maintain the crankshaft speed at 3,000 rpm without load (in neutral position) until the radiator fan turns on or until the engine coolant temperature reaches 90°C.

5. Let the engine idle for approximately 5 minutes with the throttle fully closed.

Note: If the radiator cooling fan turns on, exclude its operating time from the 5 minute period.

6. Make sure the procedure "IDLE LEARN" in the "DATA LIST" menu of the HDS system is complete.
