Note. When removing parts, memorize or mark each one so that you can put it back correctly later.
When disassembling and reassembling the rocker arms, install the rocker arms on the shaft from the timing chain side.
Check the condition of the rocker shaft and the condition of the rocker arms.
The rocker arms, if reused, must be installed in the same places.
Before assembly, clean all parts with solvent, dry and apply lubricant to all mating surfaces.
Inspection of the shaft and rocker of the cylinder head (L13A)
Inspection of the shaft and rocker of the cylinder head
1. Remove the rocker arm assembly.
2. Disassemble the rocker assembly.
3. Measure the diameter of the shaft at the location of the first rocker arm.
4. Zero dial indicator A on the shaft diameter.
5. Measure the inside diameter of the shaft and check for ovality.
Gap between rocker arm and rocker shaft.
Standard (new): 0.019—0.058 mm
Working range: 0.08 mm.
6. Repeat this operation for all rocker arms and rocker shafts. If the clearance is out of range, replace the rocker shaft and any rocker arms that are outside the specified diameter.
