Beat
1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and place safety stands in appropriate locations.
2. Remove the rear wheel.
3. Remove the brake pads.
4. Make sure that the surface of the brake disc is not cracked or otherwise damaged. Wipe the surface of the brake disc and remove all traces of dirt.
5. Install the appropriate wheel flat washers A and wheel nuts B, tightening the nuts to the recommended torque to secure the brake disc to the hub.
6. Install a dial gauge to measure the axial runout of the brake disc as shown in the figure. Measure at a distance of 10 mm from the outer edge of the brake disc.
Axial runout of the brake disc.
- Operating range limit: 0.10 mm.
7. If the axial runout of the brake disc is outside the operating range, then regrind the end face of the disc / drum on a special lathe without removing the brake disc from the vehicle. Special lathes «Kwik-Lathe» And «Front Brake Disc Lathe», manufactured, respectively, by Kwik-way Manufacturing Co. and Snap-on Tools Co. are well suited for this.
- Maximum limit for turning: 7.0 mm.
Note. If the thickness of the brake disc does not permit turning, the brake disc must be replaced.
A new disc must be machined if its axial runout exceeds 0.10 mm.
Thickness and parallelism
1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and place safety stands in appropriate locations.
2. Remove rear wheels.
3. Remove the brake pads.
4. Using a micrometer, measure the thickness of the brake disc at eight points, approximately 45°and 10 mm from the outer edge of the brake disc. Replace the brake disc if the lowest value is less than the minimum limit.
Thickness of the brake disc
- Standard: 9.0 mm.
- Maximum limit for turning: 6.0 mm.
- Parallelism of the ends of the brake disc: 0.015 mm maximum.
Note. This is the maximum allowable difference between thickness measurements.
If the non-parallelism of the ends of the brake disc exceeds the allowable limit, then turn the ends of the disc on a special lathe without removing the brake disc from the car. Special lathes «Kwik-Lathe» And «Front Brake Disc Lathe», manufactured, respectively, by Kwik-way Manufacturing Co. and Snap-on Tools Co. are well suited for this.
Note. If the thickness of the brake disc does not permit turning, the brake disc must be replaced.
