Examination
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Reduce the pressure in the fuel system.
3. Disconnect the fuel pipes.
4. Connect the pressure gauge as shown in the figure.
5. Connect the wire to the negative terminal of the battery.
6. Start the engine and let it idle.
7. After approximately two minutes of engine operation, measure the pressure in the fuel line.
Pressure - 270 - 320 kPa (2.8-3.3 kg/cm²)
If the pressure does not correspond to the specified one, check:
- pressure developed by the fuel pump;
- residual pressure after engine shutdown;
- fuel filter;
- injectors;
- fuel pump relay;
- damage or clogging of fuel lines.
Replace the fuel pressure regulator if necessary.
Removal and installation
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove the fuel pump.
3. Remove the fuel pressure regulator.
4. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal. Install a new sealing ring when assembling.
