Checking the gap

Measure both intake and exhaust rocker arm shafts.

1. Measure the diameter of the rocker arm shaft at the location of the valve rocker arm of the first cylinder.



2. Set the device to zero.



3. Measure the inner diameter of the rocker arm, and check the inner surface of the rocker arm for out-of-roundness.

Rocker arm and rocker shaft clearance:

Nominal value:

• Intake rocker arms: 0.017 - 0.050 mm
• Exhaust rocker arms: 0.018 - 0.054 mm
• Limit value: 0.08 mm

4. Repeat measurements for all valves.

If the clearance is greater than the maximum permissible value, replace the rocker arm shaft.
