Removal



1. Disconnect the battery from ground.

2. Remove the cylinder head cover.

3. Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise, align the marks on the crankshaft pulleys with the pointers, while the UP marks on the camshaft sprockets should be facing upward.

4. Remove the camshaft belt (see below).

5. Remove the ignition distributor (Chapter 2).

6. Loosen the rocker arm adjusting screw locknuts.

7. Evenly and gradually loosen the camshaft journal cover bolts, making 1/2 turn at a time, until the bolts can be unscrewed by hand.

8. Mark and remove the camshaft bearing journal caps, camshaft and rocker arms.

Installation



9. Make sure that the alignment of the crankshaft marks is not disturbed, otherwise align the marks by turning the crankshaft further.

10. Install the rocker arms in place.

11. Install the camshaft into the cylinder head so that the UP mark on the sprocket faces upward and the TDC mark is aligned with the pointer.

12. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the outer edges of the first and sixth camshaft caps on both camshafts (shaded areas in the photo).

13. Replace the plug at the rear of the cylinder head on the exhaust camshaft side.

14. Install the bearing journal covers and tighten the bolts to 9.8 Nm in the order shown in the photo.

15. Install the camshaft belt.

16. Adjust the clearances in the valve drive mechanism.

17. Install the cylinder head cover, applying sealant to the gasket at the corners. Install the remaining removed parts.
