Checking the axle and rocker arms (Honda Fit 1)

1. Measure the diameter of the rocker arm bore in the area of the first rocker arm.

2. Reset the indicator reading to zero on the rocker arm shaft diameter readings.

3. Measure the inside diameter of the rocker arms and check for out-of-roundness.

Clearance between axle and rocker arms:

nominal - 0.019-0.058 mm
maximum - 0.080 mm

4. Check the clearance between all rocker arms and the rocker shaft. If the clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the rocker shaft and the rocker arm whose clearance exceeds the maximum. If any rocker arm needs to be replaced, replace rocker arms No.1 and No.2 as a unit.

5. Check the rocker arm plungers. Press each plunger.

If plunger movement is difficult, replace the rocker arm assembly.
