Note: Adjust the steering rack with the wheels in a strictly straight position.
Left hand drive:
1. Loosen the locknut of the steering rack clamp screw with a special tool, then loosen the steering rack clamp screw.
2. Tighten the steering rack guide clamp screw to 25 Nm (2.5 kgf-m), then loosen it.
3. Tighten the steering rack guide clamp screw again to 3.9 Nm (0.4 kgf-m), then rotate it back to the set angle.
Set rotation angle: 20°max.
4. Tighten the locknut while holding the steering rack clamp screw.
5. Check for tightness or looseness of the steering by turning the steering wheel fully.
6. Perform the following checks: Steering operation. Measure the assist force with the vehicle stationary.
Right hand drive:
1. Loosen the steering rack clamp locknut using a special tool, then loosen the clamp screw.
2. Tighten, loosen and tighten the clamp screw twice to 4.9 Nm (0.5 kgf-m), then unscrew it back to the set angle.
Set rotation angle: 25°max.
3. Tighten the locknut while holding the steering rack clamp screw.
4. Check the steering for tightness or looseness by turning the steering wheel fully.
5. Perform the following checks:
- Steering operation.
- Auxiliary force on a parked car.
