1. Remove the handle from the shift lever (see chapter Gear box).
2. Remove the center console (see chapter Body).
3. Chock the front wheels, then jack up the rear of the vehicle and place it on jack stands. Engage the parking brake lever one click.
4. While manually rotating the rear wheels, clockwise tighten the adjusting nut on the parking brake cable equalizer assembly (see accompanying illustration). Stop tightening the nut as soon as the wheels start "cling". Release the parking brake lever and make sure the rear wheels turn freely. When the drive is properly adjusted, the travel of the parking brake control lever must correspond to that specified in Specifications to the head Current service this guide.
5. Lower the vehicle to the ground, then reinstall the center console (see chapter Body) and gear shift knob (see chapter Gear box).
