Warning! The vehicles covered in this Manual are equipped with airbags (SRS). When performing any work near the impact sensors, steering column or instrument panel, turn off the SRS (see the electrical connection diagrams at the end of Chapter On-board electrical equipment).
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Warning! If the car stereo system is equipped with a security code, make sure you have the correct combination to activate the audio system before disconnecting the battery!
Rear console section

1. Pry off the decorative cover and unscrew the front screws securing the rear section of the console (see accompanying illustration).

2a. Remove the mounting screws located on both sides of the rear section of the console (see accompanying illustrations).

2b. On some models, it may be easier to slide the front section forward to gain access to the screws that secure the rear section of the console.
3. Pull up on the parking brake lever. Remove the rear section of the console by lifting it up and pushing it back.
Front console section
1. Remove the handle from the gear shift lever (see Chapter Gearshift box).

2a. Remove the screws securing the front section of the console (see accompanying illustrations).

2b. … and also along the front edge.

3. After releasing the fastener, pull the rear edge of the section up and back and remove it through the gear shift lever (See accompanying illustration). Disconnect the electrical wiring and remove the console from the vehicle.
4. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
