Examination
1. Tighten the parking brake lever with a force of 196 N (20 kgf) and fully apply the parking brake. The parking brake lever travel should be the specified number of clicks.
Number of clicks before applying the parking brake: 7-10.

2. Torque to 196 N (20 kgf)
3. NUMBER OF CLICK OFFS BEFORE PARKING BRAKE IS ENGAGED
2. If the number of clicks differs from the specified, adjust the parking brake.
Adjustment
Note: After repairing the rear brake pads and before adjusting the parking brake, loosen the parking brake adjusting nut, start the engine, and depress the brake pedal several times to engage the self-adjusting brake.
1. Raise the vehicle with the rear wheels and secure it on the safety stands. Chock the front wheels before jacking up the rear of the vehicle.
2. Remove the rear console.
3. Pull out the parking brake lever one click.
4. Tighten the adjusting nut until the parking brake is slightly tacky as the rear wheels turn.

5. Fully release the parking brake lever and check that the parking brake does not stick when the rear wheels are turned. Re-adjust if necessary.
6. Make sure the parking brake is fully applied when the parking brake lever is fully tightened.
7. Replace the rear console.
