Examination
1. Tighten the parking brake lever with a force of 196 N (20 kgf) and fully apply the parking brake. The stroke of the parking brake lever should be the specified number of clicks.
Number of clicks before the parking brake engages: 7-10.

3. NUMBER OF CLICKS BEFORE THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGES
2. If the number of clicks differs from the specified number, adjust the parking brake.
Adjustment
Note: After repairing the rear brake pads and before adjusting the parking brake, loosen the parking brake adjusting nut, start the engine and depress the brake pedal several times to activate the self-adjusting brake.
1. Raise the rear wheels of the vehicle and secure it on safety stands. Place chocks under the front wheels before jacking up the rear of the vehicle.
2. Remove the rear console.
3. Pull the parking brake lever one click.
4. Tighten the adjusting nut until the parking brake slightly grabs when turning the rear wheels.

5. Release the parking brake lever completely and check that the parking brake does not grab when the rear wheels are turning. Readjust if necessary.
6. Make sure the parking brake is fully engaged by fully pulling the parking brake lever.
7. Reinstall the rear console.
