Separate equipment and appliances designed to handle R-12 and R-134a refrigerants and never confuse them.
Warning
When working with R-134a refrigerant:
- Always wear eye protection.
- Do not allow refrigerant to come into contact with eyes or skin. If this happens:
- Do not rub your eyes or skin.
- Rinse eyes or skin with plenty of cold water.
- Contact a medical facility for immediate help; do not attempt to help yourself.
- Store refrigerant containers at temperatures below 40°C.
- Keep away from sources of fire. Although the refrigerant itself is not flammable, it does release toxic gases when it comes into contact with fire.
- Work in a well-ventilated area. The refrigerant evaporates very quickly and can displace all the air in a small enclosed space.
1. Always disconnect the negative battery cable when working on the A/C system.
2. Keep the work area clean and dry. Do not allow moisture or dirt to enter the system. When working on the system, put on protective caps or connect connections without delay. Remove the protection only immediately before connecting the pipelines.
3. Apply a little refrigerant oil to the O-rings before connecting each tube or hose.
4. When tightening or loosening a connection, use a second wrench to hold the connection stationary.
5. When the system is under vacuum, do not allow the refrigerant to escape too quickly, this may lead to oil being carried out of the system.
6. Add refrigerant oil after replacing the following parts:
Note:
- Do not return oil to a container that has been filled and do not mix it with other oil.
- Immediately after filling the oil, install the lid with a gasket on the container to prevent moisture absorption.
- Do not spill refrigerant oil on the car body, as this may damage the paint. If oil gets on the housing, wipe it off immediately.
- Condenser - 20 ml./25 ml.
- Evaporator - 45 ml./60 ml.
- Tubes and hoses - 10 ml./10 ml.
- Reservoir/drying agent - 10 ml./10 ml.
- Elimination of depressurization - 25 ml./25 ml.
- Compressor - To replace a compressor: subtract the amount of oil drained from the removed compressor from quantity A. And drain the calculated volume of oil from the new compressor: A-Volume from removed compressor = Volume to infuse from new compressor. A: Sanden&Hadsys=13O ml. Nippondenso-140 ml
Note: If no oil has drained from the removed compressor at all, do not drain more than 50 ml from the new compressor.
