ABS warning lamp
1. If the system is OK, the ABS warning lamp goes out after approx. 2 seconds after turning the ignition key to the ON position (II). During this time, a system check is performed. If the engine is then started, the warning lamp comes on again and goes out after approx. 2 seconds after the ignition key is returned to the ON position (II). This is because the power supply of the ABS control unit is switched on by a circuit connected only in the ON position (II) ignition key.
2. If a malfunction occurs in the system, the control unit determines the location and nature of the malfunction and stores the diagnostic trouble code (DTC). At the same time, the ABS warning lamp comes on. If the DTC is not stored, the warning lamp will not come on except for the initial period.
3. If a short-term or long-term malfunction occurs in the system, the behavior of the warning lamp depends on the nature of the malfunction, and is divided into the following 3 types.
DTCs 61 or 62
If a malfunction is detected before the trip, the control lamp lights up and goes out after returning to normal.
DTCs 11, 13, 15, 17.31-38, 54, 71, 81
If a malfunction is detected before the trip, the control lamp lights up and, regardless of whether the malfunction has been eliminated or not eliminated, continues to burn until the ignition key is turned to the OFF position.
DTCs 12, 14, 16, 18, 21-24, 41-44, 51, 53
If a malfunction is detected, the control lamp lights up and remains on until the ignition key is turned to the OFF position. The next time the control lamp goes out while driving, only after the malfunction has been eliminated.
4. Even if the system is normal, the test lamp may light up and indicate a malfunction in the following cases. If the system is found to be OK, clear the DTCs.
- Drive wheels only rotate
- Drive wheel slip
- car turning
- ABS system operation for a long time
- Extraneous signals (noises)
5. If the ABS warning lamp and the brake system warning lamp come on at the same time, first determine the cause of the ABS warning lamp.
