The air conditioning system removes heat from the passenger compartment by recirculating the refrigerant through the system, as shown below.

This machine uses HFC-134a (R-134a) refrigerant, which does not contain chlorine. Please pay attention to the following maintenance points.
- Do not mix CFC-12 (R-12) and HFC-134a (R-134a) refrigerants. They are not compatible with each other. Use only the recommended refrigeration oil (PAG) type (Nippondenso: ND-OIL8 P/N 38899-PR7-003 or P/N 3S899-PRZ-A61, or SP-10 type, P/N-38899-P13-003 or P/N 38899-P13-A01, designed for R-134a refrigerant. Mixing the recommended PAG type oil with other types of oil will cause compressor failure.
- All components of the air conditioning system (compressor, condenser, tubes, sealing rings, etc.) designed for use with R-134a refrigerant, do not be alarmed with R-12 parts. Use a halogen gas leak detector for R-134a.
- When working with a vacuum pump, use a special valve adapter to prevent oil from the vacuum pump from entering the system.
- Separate and do not confuse devices and equipment for working with R-12 and R-134a air conditioning systems.
