Note: This procedure checks the engine oil level sensor for proper operation.

Perform the procedure on a flat surface.
Make sure the customer has not added oil before performing this procedure.
Check for oil leaks before performing this procedure.
Make sure the original oil dipstick is installed.
Before performing this procedure, check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs using the HDS. If any Temporary DTCs or DTCs are displayed, troubleshoot them first, then perform this procedure.
1. Start the engine. Maintain the engine speed at 3,000 rpm (min⁻¹) without load (in neutral position of manual transmission) before turning on the radiator fan.
2. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position and wait 5 minutes.
3. Check the engine oil level using the oil dipstick
- If the oil level is OK and the customer has not added oil after the oil level indicator came on, replace the oil level sensor, then proceed to step 4.
- If the oil level is not correct, adjust the oil level, then proceed to and recheck.
4. Start the engine. Maintain the engine speed at 3,000 rpm (min⁻¹) without load (in neutral position of manual transmission) before turning on the radiator fan.
- 5. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs using the HDS.
- If there are no DTCs, the engine oil level sensor is normal.
- If any Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, proceed to troubleshooting for the indicated DTCs.
