Dismantling
1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and place safety stands in appropriate locations.
2. Remove the rear wheel.
3. For model with HID lamp: Remove the rear headlight range sensor.
4. Remove the bottom cover of the rear spring support A.
5. Position a floor jack under the rear axle beam and support the rear suspension while raising the jack.
6. Remove flange bolt A from the bottom of the shock absorber.
7. Remove the luggage compartment side trim A.
8. Remove self-locking nut A while holding shock absorber rod B with hex key C.
9. Squeeze shock absorber block A and remove it from the body.
Examination
1. Push the shock absorber as shown.
2. Squeeze the shock absorber block with your hands and check its operation at full stroke when compressing and unclenching. After cessation of compression, the shock absorber should expand evenly and smoothly. If it doesn't, the shock absorber is leaking gas and needs to be replaced.
3. During these checks, make sure that there is no leakage of the working fluid, extraneous sounds and jamming.
Installation
1. Install the shock absorber mounting sleeve A on the shock absorber. Place shock absorber assembly B between body and rear axle beam.
2. Position a floor jack under the rear axle beam and support the rear suspension while raising the jack.
3. Install damper mounting bush A, damper mounting washer B onto damper rod, and lightly tighten new self-locking nut C. Follow instructions for installing washers and bushing.
4. Install a new flange bolt A on the bottom of the shock absorber without fully tightening it.
5. Raise the rear suspension cross member with a hoist until the vehicle is off the support legs, then tighten the shock absorber mounting bolt to the recommended torque.
6. Tighten the self-locking nut to the recommended torque while holding the damper rod A with the hex wrench B.
7. Reinstall luggage compartment side trim A.
8. Install the bottom cover of the rear spring support A.
9. For model with HID lamp: Remove the rear headlamp leveling sensor.
10. Install the rear wheel.
11. Check rear wheel alignment.
12. For model with HID lamp: Perform headlight position learning procedure.
