Pedal height
1. Disconnect the brake light switch connector, loosen the brake light switch lock nut and turn it away until it no longer contacts the brake pedal.
2. Turn back the mat and measure the pedal height from the center of the pedal pad on the left side.
Standard pedal height (with floor mat removed):
- Manual transmission: 192 mm
- Automatic transmission: 197 mm
3. Loosen the lock nut of the push rod and screw the push rod in or out with pliers until the standard pedal height from the floor is achieved. After adjustment, tighten the lock nut securely. Do not adjust the pedal height with the push rod depressed.
4. Screw in the brake light switch until its plunger is fully depressed (the threaded end touches the pad on the pedal arm). Then back off the switch 1/4 turn so that there is a 0.3 mm gap between the threaded end and the pad. Tighten the lock nut securely. Connect the brake light switch connector. Make sure the brake lights go out when you release the pedal.
5. Check the brake pedal free play as follows.
Free travel of the brake pedal
1. Turn off the engine and check the free play of the brake pedal on the pedal pad by pressing it with your hand. Free play: 1-5 mm
2. If the pedal free play is different from the specified value, adjust the brake light switch. If the pedal free play is insufficient, it may cause the brakes to grab.
