Functional check

Caution: When pulling out the switch, be careful not to damage the mirror switch or the lower cover of the driver's side instrument panel.

1. Remove the switch from the lower instrument panel cover on the driver's side.

2. Disconnect the 10K connector from the switch.

Note: LHD type is shown, RHD type is similar.

Checking the mirror

Both don't work:

1. Check the voltage between terminal No.2 (BLK/YEL) and the body when the ignition switch is ON(II).

There should be battery voltage.
  • If there is no voltage, check:

- Fuse #17 (7.5A) in the under-panel fuse and relay box has blown.

- Break in BLK/YEI wire.
  • If battery voltage is present, proceed to step 2.

2. Check the conductivity between contact No.4 (BLK) and the body.

There must be conductivity.
  • If there is no conductivity, check:

-Break in BLK wire.

-Poor grounding (G551).

The left mirror does not work:

Connect pin #2 (BLK/YEL) of the 10K connector to pin #3 (YEL/RED) and pin #5 (or #6) to the body with jumper wires. The left mirror should tilt down (or turn left), when the ignition switch is turned ON(II).

  • If the mirror does not tilt down (or does not turn left), remove the left door panel and check for a break in the BLU/WHT wire (or BLU/BLK) between the left mirror and the switch.
  • If the wire is OK, check the left power mirror drive.
  • If the mirror does not tilt down and does not turn to the left, repair the wire
  • If the mirror is working properly, check the mirror switch.

The right mirror does not work:

Connect pin #2 (BLK/YEL) of 10R connector to pin #3 (YEL/RED), and pin #9 (or #8) to the body with a jumper wire. The right mirror should tilt down (or turn left), when the ignition switch is turned ON(II).
  • If the mirror does not tilt down (or does not turn left), remove the right door panel and check for a break in the GRN/WHT wire (or YEL/BLK) between the right controlled mirror and the switch. If the wire is OK, check the right controlled mirror drive.
  • If the mirror does not tilt down or turn left, repair the wire. If the mirror works properly, check the mirror switch.

Folding mirrors does not work:

Connect terminal No.2 (BLK/YEL) of the 10K connector to terminal No.10 (BLU/YEL) with a jumper wire. The mirrors should fold/unfold when the ignition switch is switched back and forth between ON (II) and (OFF).
  • If the mirrors do not fold or unfold, perform an input signal test for the folding mirror control unit.
  • If one of the mirrors does not fold or unfold, check the folding mirror drive.
  • If the mirrors are working properly, replace the switch.
