The key can be in one of three positions in the ignition switch:
- "LOCK" (0) — "Blocking",
- "ACCESSORY" (I) — "Auxiliary energy consumers",
- "ON" (II) — "The ignition is on. "
Position "LOCK" (0) — "Blocking"
You can insert or remove the key from the ignition switch only in this position. When turning the ignition switch from the "LOCK" (0) position to the "ACCESSORY" (I) position, the steering wheel must be unlocked. To do this, press the key slightly while turning the key and push it slightly into the ignition switch.
When the front wheels are turned, the steering lock sometimes prevents the ignition key from being moved out of the "LOCK" (0) position. In this case, it is recommended to turn the steering wheel slightly in one direction or another while turning the key.
Position "ACCESSORY" (I) — "Auxiliary consumers of electricity"
This position of the ignition key ensures that the audio system can function (if the car is equipped with it) and a cigarette lighter.
Position "ON" (II) — "Ignition on"
The ignition key is always in this position while the car is moving and when the engine is idling. When the key is turned from the "ACCESSORY" (I) position to the "ON" (II) position, some indicators and signaling devices located on the instrument panel are briefly switched on, which is intended to monitor their serviceability.
The engine starts by pressing a button "ENGINE START" ("Starting the engine").
An audible signal is provided to remind you that the key is left in the ignition switch in the "LOCK" (0) or "ACCESSORY" (I) position when the driver's door is opened. As soon as the key is removed from the ignition switch, the warning audible signal turns off.
Warning! It is prohibited to remove the key from the ignition switch while the vehicle is moving. This will lock the steering shaft and make it impossible to steer the vehicle.
Remove the key from the ignition only after the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
