The key can occupy one of three positions in the ignition lock:
- «LOCK» (0) — «blocking»,
- «ACCESSORY» (I) — «Auxiliary energy consumers»,
- «ON» (II) — «Ignition on».
Position «LOCK» (0) — «blocking»
You can insert or remove the key from the ignition only in this position. When turning the ignition key from position «LOCK» (0) into position «ACCESSORY» (I) you need to unlock the steering shaft. To do this, when turning the key, slightly press the key and slightly drown it in the ignition lock.
With the front wheels turned, the steering shaft lock sometimes does not allow you to remove the ignition key from the position «LOCK» (0). In this case, it is recommended to turn the steering wheel slightly in one direction or another at the same time as turning the key.
Position «ACCESSORY» (I) — «Auxiliary consumers of electricity»
This position of the ignition key ensures that the audio system can function (if the car is equipped with it) and cigarette lighter.
Position «ON» (II) — «Ignition on»
The ignition key is always in this position while the vehicle is moving and the engine is idling. When turning the key from position «ACCESSORY» (I) into position «ON» (II) some indicators and signaling devices located on the dashboard turn on for a short time, which is provided for monitoring their serviceability.
Engine starts at the push of a button «ENGINE START» («Engine start»).
An audible signal is provided to remind you when the driver's door is opened that the key is left in the ignition in the position «LOCK» (0) or «ACCESSORY» (I). Once the key is removed from the ignition switch, the warning chime will turn off.
Attention! It is forbidden to remove the key from the ignition switch while the vehicle is moving. This will cause the steering shaft to lock up and make it impossible to steer the vehicle.
Remove the key from the ignition only after the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
