Withdrawal
1. Loosen the wheel nuts for the respective wheel. Jack up the front of the car and place it on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
2a. While holding the rod end from turning with the second wrench, loosen the locknut.
2b. Loosen the nut just enough to mark the position of the tip on the exposed threads of the stem (see accompanying illustrations).
3. Remove cotter pin and loosen handpiece ball stud nut. Do not completely remove the nut yet.
4. Using a puller, release the ball pin of the tip from the steering knuckle assembly lever (see accompanying illustration). Remove the nut and separate the linkage from the knuckle.
5. Turn away and remove a tip from draft.
Installation
1. Screw a new tip onto the rod (to the landing mark applied during dismantling on the threads of the rod). Insert the ball end pin into the steering knuckle arm. Do not tighten the handpiece locknut yet.
2. Install the castle nut of the ball stud and tighten it to the required torque. Secure the nut with a new cotter pin.
3. Tighten the handpiece locknut securely.
4. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel nuts to the required torque (see Specifications to the head Current service).
5. Drive the car to a specialized workshop to check the alignment of the front wheels.
