Removal
1. Remove the rear wheels.
2. Remove the speaker cover (3 doors).
- For sedan only: Remove the trunk side panel.
3. Remove the two flange nuts.

4. Remove the flange bolt on the shock absorber.
5. Remove the flange bolt that attaches the lower control arm to the trailing arm.

6. Lower the rear suspension and remove the shock absorber.
Disassembly
1. Install the shock absorber onto the spring compressor by securing the bottom of the shock absorber and easily installing the retainer and bolts.
2. Install the suspension mounting plate onto the spring compressor.
3. Clamp the spring compressor with the shock absorber in a vice, then tighten the shock absorber retainer bolts securely.
Caution: Do not tighten the bolts too much.
4. Mark the shock absorber body and spring compressor retainer with paint as shown.
5. Mark the mounting plate and the base of the rack mount with paint as shown.

6. Compress the shock absorber by 2-3 cm, tightening the nuts of the device.
Note: Turn each nut gradually and evenly.
7. Hold the shock absorber rod with a hex wrench and remove the self-locking nut.
8. Loosen the compressor nuts, then remove the suspension mounting plate.
9. Disassembling the shock absorber on the next page.

Assembly
1. Install the shock absorber assembly onto the spring compressor, aligning the marks on the shock absorber body and the spring compressor retainer.
Note: If you are installing a new shock absorber, mark it the same as the old one.
2. Assemble the shock absorber in the reverse order of disassembly, with the exception of the shock absorber mounting washer and self-locking nut.
Note: Align the lower part of the shock absorber spring with the lower spring plate.
3. Install the mounting plate onto the shock absorber with the hole so that the mark on the plate faces the painted thread.
4. Position the rack mount base by aligning the marks on the base and the mount plate.
5. Apply oil to the seating surfaces of the spring compressor nuts and the threaded portion of the spring compressor.
6. Compress the shock absorber spring by tightening the puller nuts.
Note: Tighten each nut gradually and evenly.
7. Install the shock absorber mounting washer, then loosely install the new self-locking nut.
8. Hold the shock absorber rod with a hex wrench and tighten the self-locking nut.
9. Remove the shock absorber from the spring compressor.
Installation
1. Lower the rear suspension and position the shock absorber with the spring stop facing toward the left side of the vehicle.

2. Loosely install two flange nuts.

3. Loosely install two flange bolts.
4. Raise the rear suspension with a jack until the car is free from the safe support.
Warning: The jack must be positioned securely to avoid injury to a person
5. Tighten the flange bolts.
6. Tighten the two flange nuts on the top of the shock absorber to the specified torque.

7. Check the position of the rear wheels and adjust if necessary.
