Checking the play
1. Shift into neutral.
2. Apply marks to the flanges of the transfer case and propeller shaft.
3. Loosen the bolts and disconnect the propeller shaft from the transfer case.
4. Install the dial indicator as shown in the figure and measure the play.
Backlash - 0.06 - 0.16 mm
Removal and installation
1. Jack up the car and place it on stands.
2. Drain the oil from the gearbox (see chapter "Maintenance and general check and adjustment procedures").
3. Remove the catalytic converter.
4. Apply marks to the flanges of the transfer case and propeller shaft.
5. Loosen the bolts and disconnect the propeller shaft from the transfer case.
6. Loosen the bolts and remove the stiffener.
7. Loosen the transfer case mounting bolts and remove it.
Note:
- Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
- After installation, fill the gearbox with oil (see chapter "Maintenance and general check and adjustment procedures").
