Warning! Make sure jacks and safety stands are securely installed (see ch. 1).
1. Raise the front of the car and securely fasten it to the safety stands (see ch. 1).
2. Apply the parking brake and block both rear wheels securely.
3. Shift into neutral.
4. Mark the flanges of the driveshaft and transfer case assembly.
5. Separate the propeller shaft from the transfer case assembly.
6. Install the indicator head to the transfer case flange assembly, then measure the transfer case gear clearance.
Standard clearance: 0.06-0.16mm.
7. If the gap differs from the specified allowable values, remove the transfer case assembly and adjust the gap of the transfer case gear (see below).
8. Check the transfer case seal for damage and fluid leakage.
9. If the oil seal needs to be replaced, remove the transfer case assembly, replace the oil seal, and adjust the full starting torque (see below).
Note: Do not replace the oil seal while the transfer case assembly is installed on the transmission.
