Transfer case — check on the car (Honda HR-V 1)

Warning: Make sure the jacks and safety stands are securely installed (see chapter 1).


1. Raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on safety stands (see chapter 1).

2. Apply the parking brake and securely block both rear wheels.

3. Shift to neutral.

4. Apply marks to the flanges of the propeller shaft and transfer case assembly.

5. Separate the propeller shaft from the transfer case assembly.

6. Install the indicator head on the transfer case flange assembly, then measure the transfer case gear clearance.

Standard gap: 0.06-0.16 mm.

7. If the clearance differs from the specified permissible values, remove the transfer case assembly and adjust the transfer case gear clearance (see below).

8. Check the transfer case seal for damage and fluid leakage.



9. If the seal needs to be replaced, remove the transfer case assembly, replace the seal and adjust the full starting torque (see below).

Note: Do not replace the oil seal while the transfer case assembly is installed on the transmission.
