- The electric drive control switch is equipped with a selector unit that enables selection of the direction of voltage supply (on the right or left mirror). Without starting the engine, turn the ignition key to the ON position, lower the door windows and test all operating modes of the electric drive of both side mirrors.
- Listen carefully to the sounds made by the electric motors that drive the mirrors.
- If the motor sounds fine but the mirror does not move, there may be a defect in the drive mechanism inside the mirror. Remove the mirror in question and disassemble it to find the cause of the failure.
- If the mirrors do not function and their drive motors do not make any sounds, check the condition of the corresponding fuse (see Fuses - General Information).
- If the fuse is good, remove the control switch assembly from its mount without disconnecting the wiring. Turn the ignition on and check for voltage at the switch - there should be voltage at one of the terminals. If there is no voltage, check the wiring in the circuit between the switch and the fuse panel for opens and shorts.
- If voltage is present, disconnect the wiring from the switch. Check the switch for continuity in all positions. If there is no continuity, replace the switch.
- Reconnect the wiring to the switch. Find the wire that goes from the switch to ground. Without disconnecting the switch, install a jumper wire between the terminal of this wire and ground. If the motors now operate correctly, replace the ground contact assembly.
- If the drive still does not function, remove the appropriate mirror and check the circuit inside it for voltage (with the ignition on and the selector switch set accordingly). Move the switch to all possible positions one by one - in each of them (except neutral [OFF]) voltage should be present on one of the wires of the mirror electric drive circuit.
- If there is no voltage in all switch positions, check the wiring in the circuit between the mirror and the switch for open circuits and short circuits.
- If voltage is present, remove the mirror and check the correct operation of its drive by directly connecting it to the battery using jumper wires. Replace the faulty mirror (see Chapter Body).

In most cases, two electric motors are used to drive the side rear-view mirror: one provides adjustment of the mirror position in the vertical plane, the second - in the horizontal plane.
