Warning: Do not smoke while performing this operation. Keep open flames away from the work area.
1. Connect the tachometer.
2. Start the engine. Maintain the engine speed at 3000 rpm without any load on the engine (gearbox in neutral, automatic transmission selector in position [P] or [N]) until the electric fan turns on, then switch the engine to idle mode.
3. Check idle speed and adjust if necessary.
4. Warm up the CO measuring device in accordance with the device instructions.
5. Check the CO level with the headlights, ventilation, rear window heater, electric fan, and air conditioner turned off.
CO level:
- For models with three-way catalytic converter: maximum 0.1%
- For vehicles without a three-way catalytic converter: 1.0+/-1.0%
If it is not possible to accept existing measurements:
For vehicles without a three-way catalytic converter, adjust the idle mixture quality by turning the idle mixture screw.
If it is not possible to normalize the CO reading with this operation, check the engine adjustments.
