Description
Crankcase ventilation (PSV) designed to prevent crankcase gases from entering the atmosphere. The PSV valve contains a spring-loaded plunger. When the engine is running, the plunger rises in proportion to the intake manifold vacuum and blow-by gases are forced directly into the intake manifold.
Examination
1. Check the PCV system hoses and connections for leaks and blockages.
2. Check that the PCV valve makes a clicking sound when idling when pressed lightly (fingers or tongs) hose between the valve and the intake manifold.
If there is no clicking sound, check the PCV valve gasket for damage. If the gasket is OK, replace the valve.
