Location of identification plates on vehicle power units

There are several identification numbers on the vehicle, the location of which is shown schematically in the figure.
1. The chassis number is stamped on the panel separating the engine compartment from the passenger compartment.
2. The engine number is stamped on the cylinder block.
3. The transmission number plate is attached to the top of the gearbox housing.
Note: Engine and transmission have different identification numbers.

The chassis and engine numbers are duplicated on a plate located in the driver's door opening.
On some vehicle versions, a certification plate is located in the door opening on the driver's side.
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on some vehicles is also located on a plate attached to the top of the instrument panel.
