2. Apply the parking brake and chock all four wheels. Start the engine, then shift to position [D] while depressing the brake pedal. Press the accelerator pedal sharply and release it. The engine should not stall.
3. If you have a Honda PGM Tester, connect it to the DLC and proceed to PGM-FI Data List, then to step 8. If you do not have a Honda PGM Tester, proceed to step. 4.
4. Remove the glove box stoppers, then lower the glove box.
5. Loosen the mounting nut (A) at the bottom of the PCM block (B) and remove the mounting bolt (C) and nut (D).

Note: Left hand drive model shown; the arrangement on right-hand drive models is symmetrical.
6. Lift the PCM assembly without touching the mounting nut at the bottom of the PCM assembly, then remove the PCM assembly.
7. Connect the digital multitester (A) and the cone-tip probe (B) and check the voltage between terminal A15 (+) and A23 (-) or A24 (-) of the PCM.


8. Road test the vehicle on a flat road in the [D] position, check for abnormal noise and clutch slippage. While driving, check that gear shifting occurs at the appropriate speeds. To do this, monitor the voltage at the throttle position sensor and compare the speed at the switching points and the voltage with the data given in the table at the top of the next page. (The voltage at the throttle position sensor represents the opening angle of the throttle valve).

9. Accelerate to approximately 57 km/h so that the transmission shifts to 4th gear, then shift to 2nd gear. The car should immediately begin to slow down from engine braking.
10. Accelerate from a standstill with the throttle fully open in position [1]. Check that there is no unusual noise and that the clutch does not slip. The upshift should not occur when the selector lever is set to this position.
11. Accelerate from a standstill with the throttle fully open in position [2]. Check that there is no unusual noise and that the clutch does not slip. The upshift and downshift should not occur when the selector lever is set to this position.
12. Accelerate from a standstill with the throttle fully open in the [R] position. Check that there is no unusual noise and that the clutch does not slip.
13. Perform the test in the [P] (parking) position.
Park the vehicle on a slope (approximately 16°), apply the parking brake and shift to the [P] position. Release the brake; the car should not move.
